[Warning] Read this!

My computer got infected with the 'ThinkPoint' virus. This is a dangerous virus, since it looks like a normal Antivirus. It will install itself and you cannot stop it from running it's scan. It will disable your task manager and it will disable the ability to start new tasks.

I'm very busy fixing this.

If I found a way to fix it, I'll post it here so if any of you gets the same problem, he/she can fix it.


Ok, I found a solution:

Step 1
If your computer got infected, the virus will randomly open some ads. Wait for it to do this, because that is your chance to delete it.

Step 2
When it opens an ad in Internet Explorer (or another browser), use the browser to download this program. Or click here: http://www.techspot.com/downloadget.php ... 27d53981ed

Step 3
After installing the program, run a quick scan.

Step 4
Delete everything it found and restart your computer.

That's the link for a program called Rkill. It ends any adware or spyware process going on, so you can get rid of it without having any problems.

You can't. The program disables everything. You can't even open internet to download something.

But, I think I found a way to use it's own tricks against it.

Like he said, download spybot. Then run your computer in safe mode and run scans.

Like I said, you can't. You don't have access to the internet or to anything else. Everything is blocked.
Why would I make a topic for this if you could just remove it with a normal virus scanner?

That thing definitely is the best solution for malware,adware,spyware...one problem with it,it's so effective that it literally kills the virus and 50% in my case,it kills the files the virus was spread in. So if it's a sys folder,you're pretty much screwed. Otherwise it's real good.

Safe Mode won't access any files that aren't necessary on start-up. It shouldn't even mess with that virus.

Now if you're running Firefox and its still not working in safe mode, follow this.

Open Firefox > Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings > No Proxy

That should get rid of the internet disabling part

Now follow this link to download Spybot

But that is only temporary. Every time you shutdown your pc, you'll have to restart that program.

So your safest bet will be getting Spybot S & D

You should already have protection on your computer.

Like, how on earth did you get the darn virus in the first place? You see, my dad always used to say to me, "Now you know the best way not to get a virus eh?", I would say "How?" He'd say "Not to get it in the first place!". I used this trick wisely and to this day, I have not got a single virus. Lol.
