i want to start a commentary

hi peoples

since summer vacation has just started and i am free this whole month next month i might go to Mexico anyways,
i wanted to start a game commentator like make game commentary on games i play on the computer

so i was wondering what basic things i would need like

- i need some program that i can record in HD
- the program can be free or payable it doesn't matter
- the first game i will start out with is COD: MW2 SP then the MP
- so i already have a mic

just needing some help on which recorder is the best

and if it goes great i will put up a website

and the name i picked is Mr.Game Commentator
Meh....i am still deciding on the name xD (suggestions would be great)

FRAPS.

Hauppauge HD PVR $130-$150
Sony Vegas 8 or higher
Decent mic (Preferably Blue Snowball)
Decent upload speed for rendering

pinkpoodle i need something i can download not buy off a store xD

sony vegas does it have a feature that makes your voice different?
(i dont want to change it just to add funny remarks x]
oh and john fraps is said to make a game lag and i and dont wanna make the game lag

Fraps is to record on PC.
And you can't download something to record unless you're on PC.

Try it, there is a trial version I think.

I use Camstudio to record, but not sure if it is HD.
I would buy Vegas though X D

last time i tried camstudio my screen went all weird and messed up so yea.....

You can render in HD but it won't be recorded in HD, if that makes sense.

You know why FRAPS lags your PC? Because your PC sucks my shiny felony yellow robot circuits.
If you're playing the game at 1024x768 or higher, check the "half size" in the settings. Lower the graphics are, the better the game runs with FRAPS running (duhh).

Camtasia is more of a..non-fullscreen app recorder.
I think Fraps and Camtasia both capture HD, but I find encoding the Fraps video too....difficult.

Btw, you should give a shout out to people on Atf who have a youtube account if you'll succeed on making the commentary.

i kinda agree there

ill put it in the description but not in the main video maybe the credits but yea it wont look good :L

but if you guys wanna help thats fine, but im still tweaking the BB thing since when i play and save the video my voice is recorded perfectly just that the video lags not on my end but when i play the file it lags :L

ill probably start my first video Tuesday at best
