cool letter in the mail!

today i got a letter in the mail that says these exact words
'' dear parents of Matthew *******

Matthew is invited to travel and study in Canada in the summer of 2010. Join 5th and 6th grade students from the omaha region who are eligible for People to People, an educational exploration program founded by president D. Eisenhower. All students must be invited annually, so we are pleased to offer Matthew this on-time-only opportunity to travel on a 2010 program.

Matthew will stretch beyond the ordinary travel experience through unique access to people and places available only to Student Ambassadors.Participation benefits students by opening there eyes to the world, sets them apart on college applications and in consideration for other honors, and returns a child who is more confident and eager to continue learning. Matthew will:

Discover and enjoy the excitement of traveling with new friends and the eye-opening new perspectives Student Ambassadors experience
Develop new skills through activities designed to stretch students outside their comfort zone in safe and rewarding ways
Serve a greater purpose through community service projects designed to help the environment or assist a local community
Learn about the world through hands-on interaction with local citizens or with government officials and experts in many fields

Attend your local information meeting in early October to meet students who traveled last summer and have your questions answered by local educators involved with the program.
