Emulators/ROMs
Emulators/ROMs, are like the cheapest way to play the Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance SP, PS1, PS2, and many others. There are Xbox360 and PS3 Emulators out there in beta mode, and being made!
What is an Emulator? Emulate (Emulator): Imitate (Imitating) the function of another system, as by modifications to hardware or software that allow the imitating system to accept the same data, execute the same programs, and achieve the same results as the imitated system. An emulator copies the functions of an NDS, GBA, or PS2.
What is a ROM? ROM: Memory hardware that allows fast access to permanently stored data but prevents addition to or modification of the data. A ROM is copied data of a video game that can be played on an Emulator.
With these, you do not have to buy an NDS, GBA, PS1, etc. You do not have to buy the games either. They can be played straight from your computer, but if you are traveling, get a laptop.
Questions? Comments? Concerns?
Don't worry! Its not illegal!

Awesome man,I used to use them.
And it's not illegal but your xbox or PS3 would be probably banned

Pedro uses them all the time on his Xbox
Or that's what he made me think with his "Downloading game CD's parts" :D
But just yesterday, I downloaded an emulator and a ROM for.......GBA!
Oh, the legendary GameBoy Advanced :)
I have two GBAs here, but not the awesome games

Re: Emulators/ROMs
I had someting on my DSi called an R4i. It's just like any other game card but it has a memory card in it and it contains a certain firmware. My firmware was called MoonShell. It lets you have up to about 90 games on one card with a 4GB memory card plus you can store other stuff like mp3's videos etc. i downloaded something called biosdumper.nds and it wiped my R4i clean. Im going to get a new one from the chinese boys at the electronics store in London. Anyone ever had an R4 (for DS) or R4i (for DSi)?

Re: Emulators/ROMs
I have never had one, but I have heard of them. Don't you just put the chip in your computer or something? That is what I heard. Why buy them when you can just download them? Most of the games I have are pokemon games (yeah I know... :glare:). Its just most of the other games are not well made like they are. They have good graphics, a storyline, and one thing most gba/ds games lack, 3D movement. There are some others that have that, like golden sun, but they just have bad graphics.

Re: Emulators/ROMs
I use emulators to play certain games (I'm looking at you MW for DS) but if it comes out for X-box 360... I might be able to mod fallout 3!

Re: Emulators/ROMs
You have to buy the R4i card. My dad bought it off the chinese boys for about £40. it had about 83 games on it, about half of them with cheats. I made do with it until i discovered i could download games off the net for free. I downloaded the .nds file of Scribblenauts and put it on the mem. card in my R4i. It automatically created the .sav file (the one that contains all the game data) when i ran it on my DSi and it worked fine. I later downloaded some more stuff off the net using the intitle:"index.of" (.nds) google trick and got some cool stuff. Thats when i came across biosdumper.nds. Im a curious experimenter so i tried running it and it showed up some text then i restarted the R4i and it wouldnt run. It just kept saying Loading... so i put it into the usb on the pc to see what had happened and it just had a file, about 1.1GB in size, and its name was just a bunch of odd characters. I tried renaming it, changing the extension, even deleting it. It just said it was a system file and what i had done to it was invalid. It didnt do anything. So im just going to start it all again andbuy a new R4i. I emailed a lifetroop all my new .nds files so maybe i can get him to send them all back to me. Im never opening biosdumper.nds ever. So thats my story. Thank you, thank you :clapping:
