Not to bring the idea down or anything, but in my opinion it sounds like another place for spammers to spam to me.
Like...
97% of the chat room box would be filled with spam while only 3% would actually make sense and not be spam, you know?

I have thought about putting up a shoutbox. We could give it a try. Does anybody know of any good shout boxes we could use on arcadetrainer.com

But so I can get this idea clear, you want a chatroom/shoutbox thats off to the side and also that is live 24/7. Or a chatroom/shoutbox that has its own little place in the index forum thats also live 24/7 of course.
If it was me, I like the box idea off to the side, so you can what people are saying whenever you visit this site. But throw your ideas at me and I'll see what I can do.
