Mars is the closest planet to Earth that astronauts have discoved.
Problem is, there is no atmosphere.
So, basically, only archeobacterias could live on Mars right now, since they dont need oxygen to live.

The signs of life is pretty likely to me, but I don't think we would find any alien intelligence...

Well, I wouldn't mind the possibility of other life forms. I mean yeah, we're in a universe and we live in a solar system that's barely out of its diapers. There could and maybe are higher forms of life. But, Considering the new planet was found REALLY far off from earth, possible life containing planets would be farther. And due to this a simple radio transmission would take YEARS to reach Earth. And who's to say Earth has the technology to interpret these signals/ transmissions. :s Well, lets just hope eh xD ..

umm, i think they exsist because the universe is way too big and to think that we are the only ones living in it is a stupid thought...
but im not sure about these crop feilds and other stuff, i mean just because they appear in movies that doesnt make them real
