Transparency in GIMP looks like a checker board. And to make transparency you have to add an Alpha Channel to the layer, then erase what you want to.
Anyways, I like it! You're really getting good!
Now just throw in some effects in the background and maybe a render and you're good to go!Um... I used to be a moderator here...

I used a glow effect for underneath my name which was a pain in the arse to do lol..

No offence,but it is really easy to make something like that...
File => Create => Logos => Pick one of the fancy text effects.

Create text > duplicate layer > guassian blur lower layers
But I can tell you really tried on this one, and that's good!
What I like to do is listen to/read up on a bunch of guys and then combine them to make one epic picture
