Removed. I got rid of gimp.
It fails. I know. Rate poorly if you must.

To make a blur around some text,
1. Duplicate the text layer.
2. Select the layer you made, and move the layer you just made under the original by hitting the down arrow in the layer dialog.
3. Go to Distorts>>Blur>>Guassian Blur. Adjust the blur radius as much as you need to, until you like the size.
4. Co to Colors>>Colorize and adjust it to the color you want.
5. (Optional) You now have a nice blur around your text, but if it is to transparent, duplicate the layer as many times as you need to.
Hope this helps!
Uhh...what? Sorry but I really have no idea what you are saying..I'm using GIMP btw.
I really could care less about the blurs. i just wanted to make some sort of effect..
He just gave you the tutorial on how to make a nice colored blur in GIMP.
I think you should use a little more color in your pics. Try gradients and layer effects, they make good colorization

Actually no, that's how to do it in Photoshop. Unless GIMP also has all the artistic stuff too. Hey, what do I know?Originally Posted by SandSpur
