My old XBOX has RROD. Should I be seeing anything on the screen?

No idea. It used to have audio no video, that was months ago, now it suddenly has RROD.

I'm getting it fixed anyway.

But whatever is wrong with it is gonna get fixed, but my question is still unanswered.

SHOULD I SEE JUST A BLACK SCREEN DURING RROD!

Please note that the Xbox doesn't immediately have RROD. It boots (nothing on screen) for about 3-5 seconds, then RRODs on me.

That is a problem... usually with 3 Rings, RROD is not the correct term in my world, 3 Rings is. Anyway, when it overheats, this should allow it time to show something, especially with 3-5 seconds
