A friend of mine is doing 12 years in the German military as an IT specialist, right now for satellite communication. He probably gonna end on a rank just like you but he started as Stabsunteroffizier (should be like Sergeant). Can get kinda hard as he had to travel a lot through Germany but its a well paid job.
