There are two sides to that argument. One, the company such as Dell makes the PC at a reasonable price so that it helps their repution. On the other, and most probable, hand it would be more expensive. People must be paid to build it, plus it's the brand name. Normally PC's are over-hyped so that a bad system becomes a "good" system, and as it's a low price it makes the audience think that that company is great - false marketing. The main reason I built myself is because I can customise it more than any PC maker could.
