Shooting stages are ok, but could be made a bigger challenge by making it realistic. As in 1-2 hit means death. Or no regeneration during battle. Full health is restored after you finish the shooting stage.

Then it sucks cause on the last homicide case you have to chase a guy down lotsa narrow corridors with no cover while he takes potshots at you. With a shotgun. A meter away.
