For everything easy like pixel art, gif animations and "creative work":
- MS Paint - Mostly for pixel art
- Grafx2 - Pixel art
- Gimp - Gif animations and some general editing
- Inkscape
For photos:
- Raw Therapee - RAW processing, very rarely
- Nikon Capture NX Pro - RAW processing and slight touch up
- Photoshop CS4 - barely at all
- Photomatix Pro 3 - HDR

Photoshop CS4 is what i use, it's fast easy and has almost everything i need for editing.

I Use GIMP but I'm too lazy to post it on ere..
Would take up too much space...
