    Problem With explorer.exe

Since about a month ago every time i start my computer up two errors come up about explorer.exe. The first says "Windows has closed explorer.exe to prevent damage to your system". I click close message and another one pops up saying "An error has occured and explorer.exe has had to be closed. Sorry for the inconvenience." It was one of those errors with the Send error report and Dont send buttons on. But explorer.exe was absolutely fine. i opened taskmgr and looked at processes and there it was. Spick and span. I'm just afraid someone might have hacked into my PC because it comes up every single time i restart. Thanks, SUM1.

This used to happen to my old computer regually, as well as blue screens of death...I don't think it can kill your computer, maybe slow it down...Have you downloaded anything fishy since it started happening? It could be a virus, or your computer gettings old.

I'd say do a Full Scan using your antivirus. My computer is...hmm, I'd say 4 or 5 years old. It wouldn't be the age. If you are still having problems just restore the whole thing.

Or maybe get a scan for registry errors. Those often cause things like that. FinallyFast.com gives a free scan but doesn't fix the errors.

    Re: Problem With explorer.exe

ive had loads of past computers in my history. i had a windows 98 which broke. so i borrowed a windows 95 off a friend while we tried to get an xp. we got an xp flatscreen and later got an xp laptop. the flatscreen broke so we replaced it with a flatscreen vista. the xp laptop got stolen so we got a vista laptop. then later on we got another xp flatscreen which is the one i am using to type this message. this computer is about half a year old. i will run a full system scan to see if there is anything wrong (using Norton AntiVirus 2010 yay!). thanks for your help. i will tell you the results later on.

Age does matter. Coping and Pasting files, installing and un-installing makes your computer a little bit worse. Gradually, over time, your computer will die.

Die? Age? I don't think so.. unless my computer is just a real trooper. I have had this thing for 3 years. Its been through 8 system reboots, 2 advanced system reboots, 3 months without virus protection, my 2 year old nephew (who is now 5), a winter in the garage, and lots of thunderstorms. So generally, computers don't die, they just get slower and slower until they refuse to work.

Most likely you just have some corrupted files, and maybe a minor virus that tries to access your explorer.

Some can last 5 years, 10, 15 - I dont know the biggest record. I just know that that is a fact. My old comp died after a year, but that was probally cuz I had to quarenteen about 23 trojans, 12 backdoors etc.
