My whole army dies in a hail of artillary fire, yet one lone man single handedly takes on the german defenders, kills them all and captures the map. How? I mean, congratulations mate, BUT HOW?????

Most of those deaths were of his own, and attributed to by famine. The estimate of deaths is around 20 million (again mostly of his own people.) also you responded to bait

It wasn't just the US in the landings but the Allies as a whole. The US army then was useless anyway they only joined the war once it was clear the Axis were going to lose. D-Day wasn't even needed, Russia already had Germany in the bag.
Hitler wasn't in any of the beaches during D-Day also D-Day was June 6 of 1944 and Hitler died April 30 of 1945
Useragent, you are mistaken Dolfy shot himself with a Walther PPK, although weird stuff inside pills was involved, as ze fuhrer's wife demonstrates. She bit on a, I think, cyanide pill.
Here is a strategy that works for me (dont thumbs down if you dont like it) Put gunners at all of your cover points, then use assault units to take over/flank while the gunners cover them.
Mine is similar but I have machine gunners at the frontline cover points only, with officers and snipers in the other cover points.It is harder to set up though. I usually also get my troops through the centre with a tank if it is clear.
