According to legend, the god Susanoouma found a powerful sword within the fourth tail of the terrible monster Yamata no Orochi, a giant eight-skulled serpent. After defeating the monster and acquiring the sword, he gave it as a gift to his sister, the goddess Amaterasu, as a means of restoring the bonds. The legendary sword was baptized as Kusanagi in the Tsurugi, which reaps the clouds of heaven.

Centuries later, in the reign of Keikou, the 12th emperor of Japan, the sword was given to the great samurai warrior Yamato Takeru, guardian of Ise's temple, to protect and use it only in times of greatest danger. The sword was well protected for years under Takeru's guard.
But on one scorching moonlit summer night, eight warriors of the black serpent clan managed to invade the sacred temple of Ise. They snuck a whirl of poisoned darts at Takeru. The samurai master managed to dodge the first wave, but the darts were many and one of them hit the back of his neck and seconds later he fell unconscious.
Hours later, the master gathered his forces and managed to get up. But then, to his dismay, he realized that his most cherished asset was gone. The serpent clan managed to steal the legendary Kusanagi in the Tsurugi.
Now the noble samurai must race against time to find the antidote to save his life and retrieve the sword.
